Plugged the supplied cord into a charging base and it started to catch fire. Thank goodness I was here (adult) to prevent a full house fire!
I got this game to bring while traveling to entertain my son. I'll start with the good:- The different game modes make fun so that you don't get quickly bored with using it.- It's easy to remember how to work it so you don't have to worry if you lose the guide.- It's nice and compact so is very easy to travel with. There are some negatives that I want to call out, which led to my 3 star rating:- There does not appear to be a way to turn off the sound, so that limits its use in public places. You can kind of muffle the sound since it's on the bottom, but it's not ideal.- I think it's a little pricey for what it is.- I don't quite know why it can only show the last 6 signs used, I think that would get frustrating for younger players. Maybe that makes it more entertaining for older kids, so that it's not to easy to win?- The single player mode is very easy. I don't know if it will gradually get harder, the guide doesn't indicate that.- Younger children may get frustrated with it not registering their touch. You have to touch it a certain way, by placing almost the full pad of your fingertip and holding it there for a second, rather than a quick tap that everyone is used to doing on their phones. That is just a small learning curve though and wouldn't be an issue once you're used to it.Overall, I'm on the fence with this game. It does have it's pros, but I'm not sure it's worth it.
We got this as a busy activity for my nearly 6 year old daughter that doesn't require paper or coloring devices while in the car or at restaurants. She enjoys playing with this even though she doesn't always understand the rules of how to play without an adult playing along with her. This toy lights up and makes noise (not at an obnoxious level) and my 1.5 year old even enjoys playing with it just for the lights and sounds.
The single player mode seems like it's impossible to beat the computer. You have to remember the order in which you placed your X's and the order in which they placed their O's because your first X is removed when you place your 4th X. And your 2nd X is removed when you place your 6th X. But their O's are removed and placed in the same way....so you think you have them blocked but then all of a sudden you don't and they win! It's been a fun memory challenge in our house but we're a bit frustrated with how many losses we've had to take. Ha!The noise level is annoying. It would be nice if it had an adjustment or shut-off feature. And it would be even better if there was a headphone jack.
This is a much cheaper option for the popular name brand one. It works great. My kids love taking this in the car and playing against each other or even playing against the computer. Charges fast and lasts a long time.
